Rationale:

Students with exceptionalities have always been a part of my life.  My mother, aunts, uncles, and grandmother all have careers in special education.  For the past 11 years, I have taught special education starting at Missouri School for the Blind and since worked with students in every area of disability, including students who are twice exceptional.   I chose this category to help generate awareness, tolerance, and acceptance for students with disabilities.
